US co-eds in Fr. acid attack

- By TAMAR LAPIN and MAX JAEGER

Four female Boston College students were doused with acid by a woman at a French train station Sunday, police said.

The victims — identified by the Boston Globe as Courtney Siverling, Charlotte Kaufman, and Michelle Krug and Kesley Korsten — were traveling from Marseilles to Paris when a 41-year-old mentally ill woman suddenly hurled hydrochloric acid at them shortly after 11 a.m. outside the SaintCharles train station.

The attacker told cops afterward, “I just lost it,’’ according to the LA Times.

The woman said she had been the victim of an acid attack in the past and wanted others to suffer as she did, reports said.

Three of the victims were enrolled at the college’s Paris Program, and Korsten attended the BUaffiliated Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, the Globe reported.

“It appears that the students are fine, considering the circumstances, though they may require additional treatment for burns,” said Nick Gozik, director of BC’s Office of International Programs, adding that the school had been in touch with the victims’ parents and the US Embassy.

The victims were treated for facial injuries at a hospital; one victim may have suffered eye damage.

The attacker was arrested at the scene. Police do not believe terror was a motive and say she has a history of mental illness.
