THE POST’S TOP TEN

-

1. Alabama (3-0) (Last week: 1)

The Crimson Tide’s regular-season win streak is now at 24, and in that span Alabama has won by singledigits just once, a silly stretch of dominance.

2. Clemson (3-0) (2)

Forget the 433 total yards allowed, most came in garbage time. Clemson locked up Louisville’s Lamar Jackson, the defending Heisman Trophy winner, while making the statement its defense may be the nation’s best.

3. USC (3-0) (3)

Might be time to give walk-on kicker Chase McGrath a scholarship after his game-winning 43-yard field goal in double overtime against Texas kept the Trojans undefeated.

4. Oklahoma (3-0) (5)

The Sooners spotted Tulane a touchdown, proceeded to score 56 of the game’s next 63 points, and are now second in the nation in passing offense, averaging a whopping 438.7 yards per game.

5. Penn State (3-0) (4)

The schedule so far — Akron, Pittsburgh and Georgia State — has been softer than a basket of fluffy kittens, but Penn State deserves credit for not overlooking those overwhelmed opponents, destroying them to the tune of 141-14.

6. Florida State (0-1) (6)

At least true freshman James Blackman will have plenty of time to prepare — three full weeks after Florida State’s last two games were washed away by Hurricane Irma — for his first start Saturday against N.C. State.

7. Washington (3-0) (7)

Fortunately the PAC-12 schedule is here, and we can start to find out about Washington. Routs of patsies Rutgers, Montana and Fresno State have given us zero insight.

8. Michigan (3-0) (8)

Right now, the touchdown-challenged offense is enough, facing the likes of Florida, Cincinnati and Air Force. But the Wolverines can only count on their defense producing points for so long.

9. Wisconsin (3-0) (10)

Sophomore quarterback Alex Hornibrook has already thrown eight touchdown passes — one shy of his entire output a season ago — after a career-best day at BYU on Saturday.

10. Oklahoma State (3-0) (NR)

If the Cowboys win the Big 12 but miss out on the playoff, look no further than their abysmal nonconference schedule: Tulsa, South Alabama and Pittsburgh — one cupcake after another.

Dropped out: LSU (2-1)
