Text from dead nabs ‘dealer’

- Emily Saul

DEA agents used the cellphone of a man who had fatally overdosed to ensnare his drug dealer — calling him to make another sale at a nearby restaurant, where they arrested him.

The agents, masquerading as the dead man, texted Eveen “Dre” Cullum in May to arrange to buy heroin in Glen Cove, LI, according to court documents.

They scrolled through the deceased man’s texts, and saw that he had ordered $40 worth of heroin from Cullum, according to the charges.

They ordered another $80 worth, and asked him to meet them in the parking lot of a local, unnamed eatery

When Cullum realized the men were agents, he bolted in his white SUV, but was eventually caught. He then admitted to having sold “dope” to the dead man, according to court papers.

The agents recovered a plastic baggy containing fentanyl residue. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid.

After they arrested Cullum, the feds discovered two foil packets of fentanyl on the floor of his SUV, a plastic bag of cocaine, and two bags of marijuana stuffed in the console, authorities said.

l The 26-year-old suspect pleaded not guilty in Central Islip federal court Tuesday to charges of attempted distribution of fentanyl and distribution of fentanyl.

He was held without bail, and will return to court Nov. 15.
