Making the Emmys Boring: Hollywood’s Anti-Trumpism

-

Enough with the constant Trump-bashing by Hollywood know-nothings. If there had been this kind of public bashing of President Barack Obama while he was in office, there would have been riots (“Stars play Trump card,” Sept. 18).

I may not be a Donald Trump supporter, but I have respect for the office, and the Hollywood crowd is only showing the world that they are ignorant fools.

Suck it up; we have three years of the Trump administration left. Bernie Fromm Manhattan

When my sister and I were in grade school, President Harry Truman came to our town. We stood in the crowd, booing.

A man behind us told us that, like him or not, the president of the United States deserves respect. He was right, and we shut up.

Why haven’t today’s anti-Trumpers figured this out? Skipping the Emmys was a real treat. Gerry Muir Mamaroneck

It’s called a “bully pulpit” for a reason. Hollywood shamelessly used the Emmy Awards to constantly badger Trump and his supporters.

This is their “basket of deplorables” moment, and they do not care.

It is time to take a look in the mirror and make room for diverse opinion.

Skip the knee-jerk “Nazi” name-calling — it’s not only tired and historically inaccurate but a blatant shutdown of any dialogue. Deirdre Harvey Valley Stream

The best part about Emmy host Stephen Colbert and all the other leftist Hollywood lemmings was seeing them take one boring cheap shot after another at the president and realizing they only made themselves look foolish.

Not only did every one of them come across as nasty, unimaginative and petty, but they weren’t even funny.

It was “pile on the president” night because they really had nothing of substance to say.

The ratings were the lowest in Emmy’s history, and it shows just how out-of-touch the liberal left and Democratic Party are with most of America. John Scott White Beeches

Colbert and the rest of those precious so-called stars who bashed the president are pieces of garbage.

For all the lies his administration told, Obama was never criticized or mocked on the same scale as Trump.

Could you imagine the outrage if he had been treated as Trump is being treated?

They should all be ashamed of themselves. Stephen Colasacco The Bronx Hollywood elites are alienating Middle America, and they’re completely clueless that they’re doing it.

Trump will win reelection by a landslide. Dennis Rhodes Naples, Fla.

The elitist, isolated world of Hollywood and its one-percenter stars truly believe they’re funny and absolutely correct in their liberal political views.

They think they represent how most Americans feel about our country.

They couldn’t be more wrong. They continue to make fools of themselves. Joe Nugent Staten Island

No wonder so many people have tuned out the award shows. If we want politics in our faces, we’ll turn on the news.

Award shows have become platforms for entertainers who think they’re funny to play politics. The average American finds it boring, and it’s been taken to an unflattering new level.

Do the right thing and bring back award shows that all can enjoy. Sam King Manhattan
