‘Bigot’ Dem aide fired

An aide to the Democratic candidate for Nassau county executive, Laura Curran, was fired Wednesday after her offensive college-era online comments were reported to the campaign.

Curran campaign scheduler Mariah Dignan tweeted slurs demeaning to gays and blacks in conversations with fellow hockey fans almost five years ago.

“Fa--ots dancing like psychopaths,” she tweeted in November 2012, linking to an Instagram photo.

Dignan, 22, also tweeted in Nov. 16, 2012: “ni--as gotta haul ass and take your s--t to go.”

“These tweets were repugnant and horribly offensive. They in no way, shape or form represent the views of Laura Curran or her campaign,” said Curran campaign communications director Phil Shulman.

The campaign did not make Dignan available for comment.
