‘Condom sneaks = rapists’
Two members of Congress — including Rep. Carolyn Maloney of Manhattan — have asked the House Judiciary Committee to classify the act of secretly removing a condom during sex as a form of rape.
But they didn’t explain how alleged victims would be able to prove that the condom removal wasn’t accidental — or that it didn’t simply break.
The disturbing trend, known as “stealthing,” was brought to na- tional attention in May by lawyer Alexandra Brodsky, who urged that the practice be labeled a crime so victims could seek justice.
Stealthing has been spurred by online communities instructing men how to secretly take off their condoms during sex without their partner suspecting.
“I am horrified that we even need to be having this conversation,” Maloney said.
