Con Edison Proposes to Make the Control Device Provided by the Company for Room Air Conditioners Program Permanent
Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (“Con Edison” or the “Company”) has filed with the New York State Public Service Commission (the “Commission”) proposed changes to its Schedule for Electricity Service, P.S.C. No. 10 – Electricity (“Tariff”).
The Company proposed to make permanent the Control Device Provided by the Company for Room Air Conditioners Program by moving the program into Rider L – Direct Load Control Program (“DLC”) of the Tariff from the Connect Devices Pilot Program. Changes included: (1) specifying the incentive amounts for Room Air Conditioner Control Devices and offer additional incentives to reflect market conditions and customer needs, (2) allowing Customer served indirectly under SC 8, SC 12, SC 13 or a PASNY account to participate in Rider L programs, (3) adding “Test Events” in order to test participant responses to the signal sent to a Control Device, and (4) defining air conditioning technologies.
In addition, the Company also proposed housekeeping tariff changes to: (1) remove text on annual program cost limitations, (2) clarify the definition of “Event,” (3) specify it no longer will accept new enrollments for an old Rider L program, (4) update references from the Residential Smart Appliance Program to Connect Devices Pilot, (5) clarify restrictions to Rider L, and (6) allow participants to enroll by phone.
The filing, which is subject to Commission review and approval, is proposed to become effective on December 1, 2017.
