Rep. in abort scandal to go

-

US Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pa.) announced Wednesday that he would retire in the wake of a humiliating sex scandal in which the antiabortion married lawmaker asked his mistress to terminate her pregnancy.

“After discussions with my family and staff, I have come to the decision that I will not seek re-election to Congress at the end of my current term” in 2018, said Murphy, who has represented suburban Pittsburgh for eight terms.

His hypocritical abortion request was revealed in a text message, published by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, sent to gal pal Shannon Edwards. David K. Li
