EW’s HQ off to LA

Entertainment Weekly will soon be living in LA.

Time Inc. told surprised staffers on Wednesday that company was going to be moving its editorial base from New York to Los Angeles next spring.

About 20 people from the 66-person editorial staff will likely not make the move west, as a similar number of staffers are based in LA.

“If this magazine were being started today, it wouldn’t be based in New York, it would be based in Los Angeles, the heart of the entertainment industry,” said EW Editor-in-Chief Henry Goldblatt. “They’ll be far more embedded with the people they cover.”

The first issue produced in LA will have the cover date of March 30 and hit newsstands on March 23.
