Heli-drone probe
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate a September collision over Staten Island between an Army helicopter and a drone, agency officials said Thursday.
The drone was illegally flying over Midland Beach the night of Sept. 21 when it crashed into a Black Hawk helicopter on patrol during the United Nations General Assembly.
It was the first time a drone had collided with an aircraft over the United States, said NTSB Chairman Robert Sumwalt.
