Thief left son dying, police say
A New Jersey man who crashed his SUV after robbing a Walmart in Pennsylvania allegedly abandoned his 2-yearold son — who lay dying in the street after being thrown from the vehicle — to flee on foot, reports say.
Christopher Kuhn, 27, of Hamilton, allegedly stole $228 worth of speakers from the store in Levittown, Pa., on Tuesday and, in the race to flee, failed to buckle his son, Qadan, into the Jeep’s seat, WPVI-TV reported.
He instead rushed to cover his license plate with a sweater, police alleged.
After tearing out of the parking lot, he ran a red light and crashed into two other vehicles, causing his son to be flung from the SUV and onto the road.
Witnesses said he took a look at the boy, sprawled on the asphalt, and ran away.
Qadan was declared dead at a hospital. Kuhn was being held in lieu of $5 million bond on charges including murder, homicide by vehicle and retail theft.
