Three twisted terrorist wannabes, including a US citizen, were plan- ning to strike the city over the sum- mer of 2016, during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, officials said.

“NY Needs to fall. It’s a must,” Talha Haroon, a 19-year-old US citi- zen living in Pakistan, said in May 2016, according to Manhattan fed- eral court documents. Fortunately, Haroon made the proclamation to an undercover agent — and now all three men have been busted on terror charges, the feds said. In the spring of 2016, Abdulrah- man El Bahnasawy, a 19-year-old Canadian, and Haroon began plan- ning the attack via messaging apps with the undercover posing as an ISIS supporter, according to the newly unsealed complaint. They were getting help from Rus- sell Salic, 37, who wired money to the US from the Philippines to fund the attack, the documents stated. On May 1, 2016, El Bahnasawy al- legedly sent the undercover agent New York subway maps identifying train lines that they could target with blowthe coverandto documents.“The They 33rd greenthe explosives.up agent, streets,4, 2 alsowill5 one,” subwayand referringbe set accordingthe6 he trainstheir routestold purpleto the from sightsthe to we one under-7 court 103rdwillline and on Timestimes crowds allegedly“We seriouslySquare.squareof wrote people!”. need. to . the LookEl a car undercoverBahnasawyat bomb these at agent could Haroonon includeMay suggested12, either 2016. a that drive-bythe plan“or we trap surroundthem and the kill wholeas many streetas possi-and ble,” the complaint said. “I wanna kill . . . them in thousands,” Haroon allegedly told the undercover. “We have to make a ocean out of their blood . . . leave no one standing.” El Bahnasawy purchased an array of bomb-making materials, including approximately 40 pounds of hydrogen peroxide, the feds said. He was arrested in New Jersey on May 21, 2016, pleaded guilty to terrorism charges on Oct. 13, 2016, and is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12. Haroon was arrested in September 2016 in Pakistan. Salic was busted in April 2017 in the Philippines. Both are awaiting extradition to the US, the feds said.
