‘Only one’ option on N. Korea

Don hints at ‘storm’

President Trump tweeted Saturday that he’s run out of patience with North Korea — but he didn’t make clear what he would do about it.

“Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years, agreements made and massive amounts of money paid,” he posted at 3:40 p.m.

“Hasn’t worked, agreements violated before the ink was dry, makings fools of U.S. negotiators,” he continued. “Sorry, but only one thing will work!”

Trump has issued other hints of impending action against North Korea’s Kim Jong-un in recent days.

While dining with top military brass on Thursday, Trump cryptically said the gathering could be “the calm before the storm.” Administration officials haven’t said exactly what Trump meant.

On Oct. 1, Trump used Twitter to belittle Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s efforts at forging a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

“He is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man,” Trump said, using his nickname for Kim. “Being nice to Rocket Man hasn’t worked in 25 years, why would it work now? Clinton failed, Bush failed, and Obama failed. I won’t fail.”

A Russian lawmaker just returned from Pyongyang reported that North Korea plans to test a missile it believes can reach the US.

“They are preparing for new tests of a long-range missile. They even gave us mathematical calculations that they believe prove that their missile can hit the West Coast of the United States,” Anton Morozoy was quoted saying by the Russian RIA agency.

Morozoy is a member of the Russian lower house of parliament’s international-affairs committee. He was in Pyongyang last week with two other Russian lawmakers.

“And in general, their mood is rather belligerent,” Morozoy said.
