News nets want to sign Ronan

-

THE major networks are fighting over signing Ronan Farrow following his bombshell Harvey Weinstein scoop in the New Yorker. Farrow’s deal with NBC and MSNBC is up — and sources say he’s still working freelance for the network but is dragging his feet to sign another exclusive deal.

TV news insiders say that ABC, CNN and CBS are now aggressively pursuing Farrow. “All of the major news networks are interested in signing Ronan,” said a source. “His reporting brought down a giant and changed the worldwide conversation about sexual harassment.” We’re told that Farrow — who’s currently free- lancing for NBC — is in less of a hurry to sign up again for an exclusive deal with the Peacock Network, in part because NBC had refused to run his Weinstein scoop, even though it had commissioned him to investigate the movie mogul in the first place. And so he took it to the New Yorker.

After Farrow’s New Yorker piece last week, questions arose about NBC’s reluctance to run his Weinstein exposé — and sources from the network dissed Farrow to numerous outlets by saying his early reporting “didn’t meet the standard to go forward with a story” and that “it was nowhere close to what ultimately ran . . . For ex- ample, at that time he didn’t have one accuser willing to go on the record or identify themselves.” Farrow has strongly denied the statements.

Meanwhile, MSNBC axed his “Ronan Farrow Daily” in 2015, then humiliatingly stuck him behind his old news-anchor desk in a cubicle that could still be seen on-camera, as was first revealed by Page Six.

Other sources said that Farrow’s contract expired with NBC in September and that he’s remained on a freelance contract. The source added that CNN has since gotten cold feet.

NBC declined to comment.
