Manning refuses to get ‘caught up in’ any trade rumors

- By PAUL SCHWARTZ

Hmm, let’s see. The Giants were winless and the Jaguars were winning despite Blake Bortles. Eli to the Jaguars?

The Giants are in last place and the Packers just lost Aaron Rodgers to a shoulder injury. Eli to the Packers?

This is Manning’s 14th season with the Giants and never before has he heard trade rumors floated around the media — this is largely make-believe stuff — the way he has recently.

“Yeah, I don’t know why all of a sudden that’s started up,’’ Manning said Monday on his weekly WFAN spot. “Why people think I would leave or want to leave or the Giants want to trade me. I don’t get caught up in [rumors], I don’t think about ’em, I got one job and that’s playing quarterback for the New York Giants.’’

As Ben McAdoo finished up congratulating his team Sunday night in what, for the f irst time this season, was a victorious postgame locker room in Denver, Jason Pierre-Paul decided he wanted to get in the last word.

“We all we got,’’ Pierre-Paul shouted, and then repeated himself, before shouting, “We all we got, on three.’’ Dutifully, his teammates followed his lead and chanted, “We all we got on three … one, two, three We all we got!’’ The Giants started their fifth different offensive line grouping in six games and it f inally appears they have come up with a unit they want to move forward with on a regular basis. Justin Pugh is now entrenched at right tackle and D.J. Fluker has helped in the run blocking since he was inserted at right guard. That leaves John Jerry at left guard and Ereck Flowers at left tackle. Brett Jones started the past two games at center, but will relinquish that role when Weston Richburg is cleared from the concussion protocol.

“Each week presents new chal- lenges and new opportunities and we’ll take a look at what we need to do this week,’’ McAdoo said. “But I like the group we played yesterday, though.’’

Orleans Darkwa’s 47-yard run on the Broncos was the longest by a Giants running back since Andre Williams had a 50yard touchdown against the Titans Dec. 7, 2014. … The Giants came out of the game with just two injuries: LB Calvin Munson (quad) and CB Michael Hunter (hamstring).
