Martha’s mystery pie plate

A PHOTO shoot involving Martha Stewart and Luann de Lesseps’ ex-husband has somehow exploded into all-out war, including a battle over a pie dish. Stewart appeared in a New York magazine feature that had famous New Yorkers revisiting their first apartments in the city — in Stewart’s case, an Upper East Side penthouse that now belongs to Tom D’Agostino, Luann’s ex-husband. But sources close to D’Agostino say Stewart acted odd, including showing up unannounced, before the shoot, to survey the place. The sources add that at the Sept. 21 shoot Stewart backed off her claim that she lived in the apartment, saying she only stayed there a few months one summer. When the piece published, Tom’s camp found some of Stewart’s remarks about his pad to be barbed, such as, “It was very beautiful and light-filled and airy . . . Now it’s much more enclosed and dark!” and “It’s more masculine now. I mean, he’s a bachelor now, isn’t he?” But the situation boiled over when Stewart accused D’Agostino of not returning her “favorite apple pie dish” after she baked a pie for her visit. A source close to D’Agostino told us that it was just a cheap Pyrex number and they had tried to return it. As of press time, the pie dish was still in the wind. Either way, we’re told that when a pal of D’Agostino’s threatened to expose the story to the press, a Stewart lackey snarled, “You wouldn’t dare drag Martha’s name through the mud!” Reps didn’t get back to us.
