Finish the ’Stros

-

After a truly sweet three-game sweep at the Stadium, the New York Yankees stand one win away from the World Series — with the momentum all on their side.

They were down 2-0 in the series heading back to New York, but the Baby Bombers already showed Cleveland how fearsome they are with their backs against the wall. Now it was Houston’s turn.

First came an 8-1 blowout behind CC Sabathia, then a comeback from a four-run hole in Game Four, thanks to big blows by Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez.

The capper was Wednesday night’s 5-0 victory over Astros ace Dallas Keuchel, with Masahiro Tanaka tossing a gem.

The Yanks have now outscored Houston 21-9 in five games, their only losses being the first two 2-1 contests. The Bombers only need one more win, and the ’Stros have just one more ace to send to the mound.

Nor can Justin Verlander feel confident after the shelling suffered by one-time Yankee-killer Keuchel. (Heck, Justin can’t even be sure who his girlfriend’s rooting for.)

It’s back to Minute Maid Park (isn’t that kind of embarrassing, Houston?) for Game Six on Friday, and Game Seven if needed Saturday. But the Yanks’ starters and ’pen are throwing on all cylinders, and the bats have come back big-time. This feels like another one of those pinstripe-friendly Octobers.

Let’s bring that pennant back home where it belongs, boys.
