Walters was ‘helping’ Feldman

-

THE producer behind Barbara Walters’ infamous interview with Corey Feldman called critics of the veteran broadcaster “ridiculous,” and claimed Walters actually deserves credit for trying to help Feldman take down Hollywood pedophiles. Walters drew fire last week after a 2013 clip from “The View” resurfaced in which Feldman claimed child abuse is rife in Hollywood — then showed Walters appearing to chide Feldman by saying, “You’re hurting an entire industry.” But on his “Geddie Dunn” podcast, legendary “The View” producer Bill Geddie says Walters in fact coaxed Feldman to bring the thorny subject up in the first place, and that the anchor was just giving Feldman the chance to “sign off ” on his own statement. “You should know that this didn’t happen without Barbara digging into it. Barbara exposed all this . . . Barbara made this happen,” said Geddie, who was “The View” executive producer from 1997 to 2014. “If you saw the entire interview, you would understand it.” He added that, far from shutting Feldman down, “she’s wanting him to understand the depth of what he’s saying. I’ve been with Barbara for a thousand years, I can tell you this: What she’s saying is, ‘You gotta understand what you’re saying and I want you to tell me again [that] this is the truth; that this is what you’re saying, because it’s very damaging, therefore you gotta know because I don’t want you to get hurt, and I don’t want you to say something you didn’t mean.’ That’s how Barbara works.” In the interview, Feldman said, “There are people that did this to both me and Corey [Haim] that are still working. They’re still out there and they’re some of the richest, most powerful people in this business.”
