Columbia tops Cornell, but Yale captures Ivy title

Chris Schroer had 27 carries for 183 yards and a touchdown, Josh Wainwright had 140 yards receiving, and Columbia led the entire way in an 18-8 win against Cornell on Saturday in Ithaca.

Columbia (7-2, 4-2 Ivy League) built an 11-0 lead through three quarters with fields of 26, 33 and 28 yards from Oren Milstein and a safety when the Lions wrapped up Jack Gellatly with Cornell backed up against its own end zone.

Yale 35, Princeton 31

In Princeton, N.J., Kurt Rawlings threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns as Yale (8-1, 5-1 Ivy League) charged back then held on to beat Princeton (5-4, 2-4), clinching the conference title.

Wake Forest 64, Syracuse 43

In Syracuse, John Wolford rushed for three touchdowns and passed for three more, all to tight end Cam Serigne, accounting for 499 yards of total offense, and Wake Forest (6-4, 3-3 ACC) overcame a 14-yard halftime deficit to defeat the Orange (4-6, 2-4). The teams combined for 1,355 yards.

Syracuse backup quarterbac­k Zach Mahoney was 22-of-35 for 297 yards passing and three touchdowns in the first half, but just 11of-25 for 87 yards after intermissi­on.

Stony Brook 38, Wagner 10

In Stony Brook, Jordan Gowins rushed 16 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns and Donald Liotine added 79 yards and a score on just eight carries as the Seawolves (8-2) breezed to victory.

Ryan Fulse, who rushed for 121 yards, scored on a 29-yard run to give Wagner (3-7) a 10-7 lead with 10 seconds left in the first quarter.

Monmouth 41, Gardner-Webb 14

In West Long Branch, N.J., Kenji Bahar threw two of his four touchdown passes to Reggie White Jr. and Monmouth (9-1, 4-0 Big South) scored 20 first-quarter points to rout Gardner-Webb (1-9, 0-4) for its seventh straight win.

Army 21, Duke 16

In West Point, Ahmad Bradshaw scored on an 18-yard run, Javhari Bourdeau returned a blocked punt for another touchdown, and Army (8-2) beat mistake-prone Duke (4-6) to win its sixth straight and finish the season unbeaten at home.

Marist 38, Morehead St. 31

In Poughkeeps­ie, Mike White threw two of his three touchdowns passes and Willie Barrett made two fumble recoveries in the fourth quarter to rally Marist (4-6, 3-4 Pioneer League) past Morehead State (3-7, 2-5).

Ithaca 48, Cortland 20

In Ithaca, freshman quarterbac­k Wahid Nabi helped bring the Cortaca Jug back to Ithaca College for the first time in seven years, throwing six touchdown passes — including five in the first half. He was 27-of-37 for 329 yards on the day.
