Yanks likely to interview Dodgers 3B coach

- By JOEL SHERMAN

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Yankees are seriously considering bringing in Dodgers thirdbase coach Chris Woodward to interview for their manager’s job.

The Yankees have believed they would cap interviews at five or six for the position and so far have done two interviews (Rob Thomson and Eric Wedge) and have two set up for this week (Hensley Meulens and Aaron Boone).

Woodward, 41, is currently considered the most likely to receive the fifth interview as the Yankees pursue a successor to Joe Girardi.

Woodward played for five teams, including the Mets, in a 12-year career. He worked in the Mariner minor leagues after retiring and has been the Dodgers third-base coach the past two seasons. He managed New Zealand in the 2016 World Baseball Classic qualifier.

With the Mets in 2005-06, Woodward was a teammate of Carlos Beltran, who this week expressed his desire to manage to Brian Cashman, but at the moment does not look to be a serious candidate.

In a text Tuesday, Beltran said he had yet to be asked to come in for an interview and because the Yankees are nearing the end of the first phase of interviews that would strongly indicate Beltran is not in play to be the next manager.

“Cashman and I had a brief conversation,” Beltran wrote The Post. “I explained I’m committed to be back in the game in a role that I can be an impact. I believe the best use of my time and knowledge is in a managerial position. I have a lot to offer but I’m enjoying my time with the family. I’m not in a rush!”

In a follow-up, Beltran said that did not mean he wanted to wait a while until trying to manage.
