‘Superstore’ crew all aglow for Christmas after hard year

N this week’s episode of “Superstore,” the Cloud 9 employees come together to give customers — and themselves — some much-needed seasonal joy. Feuding roommates Garrett (Colton Dunn) and Jonah (Ben Feldman) suit up as Santa Claus and one of his helpers, but wind up airing their grievances in front of stunned kids who just want Santa’s ear. Later, Amy (America Ferrera) overcompensates for a very bad year — which included a divorce — by spiking the punch at the Christmas Eve staff party. Sloppiness ensues. Feldman (right), 37, talked with The Post Wednesday morning on a visit to New York.
How was it dressing up as an elf?
When you’re dressed like an elf all day, you can’t be in a bad mood. Anybody who’s down, put on an elf costume. Just make sure you do it around Christmas, or it starts to get creepy.
In this episode, there’s a running gag involving a reindeer. Was it a real reindeer?
Yes! I walked out of my trailer and saw a handler walking it to our set. It was the coolest thing ever. On a Hollywood lot, every once in a while you’re going to look out the window and see something like a giraffe or a bunch of horses.
Hanukkah starts Dec. 12. Does your family have any holiday traditions?
My wife Michelle and I have a giant Christmas tree and stockings in our living room (laughs). We have some menorahs in the house some- where; I’m sure we’ll light some. I was raised with both Hanukkah and Christmas. If a kid is exposed to both, they’re gonna go with all the lights and little characters and reindeer and all those presents.
Are the holidays too commercial?
Is anything not too commercial at this point? But I’m in New York right now and love riding in a cab through Midtown and seeing all the lights and the [Rockefeller Center] Christmas tree going up today. I feel the hands of corporate America manipulating me and I’m OK with it.
What’s the wildest office party you’ve ever been to?
A long time ago I went to a predominantly lesbian S&M birthday party. There were whips involved and the use of exercise equipment for reasons not intended by the manufacturer.
