Clive’s party still the best

- Cindy Adams

THE whammy on the Grammys is my neighbor

Clive Davis, who says: “1975, I founded Arista. Nominated for Record of the Year was Barry Ma

nilow. The song was ‘Mandy.’ ”

Clive loves Alicia, Aretha, Taylor, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Miley, Mariah, Sting, Diddy, Spring-

steen, Kelsey, Whitney, Katy, Liza, Joplin, Depp, John Legend, Pearl Jam, Randy Jackson, Patti

Smith and on and on — but the man also loves Hebrew National. At his aunt’s Thanksgiving, he fingered all the bread.

And after a starry party in his duplex, he schlepped 1,000 doughnuts for Pearl Jam’s midnight record release. And his invite to the Grammys once was an embedded clock, which ticked down to showtime.

About his celebrated annual Grammys eve party, he says: “Every bigtime show business gala — Emmys, Oscars, Tonys — is always after the event. Nobody dared hold theirs in advance. Mine,

the hot party with all the biggest names — a mix of music, sports, politics, Hollywood — is the only one the night before.”

This year’s invitation bears a gold strip that says: The tradition continues.

Clive: “It’s 15 years since we were in New York. In California, my big party was at the Beverly Hilton ballroom. We knew each table and who’d sit where. This time it’s a little different for us.”
