TRAINING DAY

- —Brian Costello

WHAT A RUSH!

The Jets defense had a good pass rush all night. Brandon Copeland, Xavier Cooper and Leonard Williams all showed up in the backfield and would have had sacks in a regular game.

HOW OFFENSIVE

Here is the flip side of the pass rush looking good — the offensive line, particularly the backups, looked terrible. They were abused by the defense, and the quarterbacks had people in their faces all night.

CAUGHT MY EYE

Rookie RB Trenton Cannon really showed his speed. He hit the edge on a few runs in a blink and had one catch when he was lined up wide that looked like it would have been a huge gain in a regular game. He may emerge as the third running back until Elijah McGuire gets healthy.

QB DERBY

Sam Darnold got the majority of the work and showed some really good things. His ability to throw on the run is what really stands out. He has great awareness and can keep plays alive. Teddy Bridgewater was under pressure all night, and it was hard to judge him. Josh McCown saw very little action but moved the ball when he was in there.

MEDICAL REPORT

LT Kelvin Beachum has a foot injury and is week to week, according to coach Todd Bowles. … Bowles held back WR Terrelle Pryor (ankle) and safety Marcus Maye (ankle) but said they would return to practice Monday. … CB Parry Nickerson (hamstring) did not practice.
