TRAINING DAY

- —ZachBraziller

LAYING DOWN THE LAW

Pat Shurmur sent Eli Apple and Evan Engram to the sideline after the two drew flags for an after-the-whistle skirmish. The Giants’ first-year coach wants physical play, not dumb and unnecessary actions that will cost his team. This kind of discipline was needed more last year.

O-LINE TROUBLES

If they were playing by regular rules, Eli

Manning would’ve taken a beating. His protection was nonexistent for most of the afternoon. The first-team offensive line struggled in particular in team drills against the blitz, leading to what would’ve been at least a few sacks and a delay-of-game penalty.

CAUGHT MY EYE

Tight end Jerell Adams made the play of the day, beating Landon Collins on a jump ball in the back right corner of the end zone.

MEDICAL REPORT

Eli Apple went down after getting tangled up with WR Hunter Sharp and didn’t return to practice for the final 45 minutes. He had his left knee looked at and tried to jog it off, but stayed on the sideline the rest of the way. S Curtis

Riley (hamstring) got in some work in individual drills while CB Donte Deayon (hamstring) and LB Thurston Armbrister (hamstring) remained out. CB/S William Guy (right leg) didn’t practice, either, though Shurmur doesn’t expect him to be out long.
