Three to see

- —PaulSchwartz

Three things to watch when the Giants play host to the Browns on Thursday night: SAQUON:

If you do not immediately know who this is referring to, please turn in your Giants badge. Be it one snap or three or seven, this is Saquon Barkley’s preseason debut and, at last, we can see what he looks like in full uniform, running and catching against a different team. His work in training camp has been impeccable, not at all resembling an ordinary rookie. Of course, nothing about Saquon is ordinary. Let the fun begin.

THE NEW-LOOK D:

Is there anybody out there old enough to remember when the Giants used a 3-4 front as their base defense? This is going to look a whole lot different, as this is the first time we get to see James Bettcher’s unit in game action. Olivier Vernon is now an outside linebacker and will stand up rather than get down in a three-point stance. Alec Ogletree and B.J. Goodson are dual inside (middle) linebackers. Bettcher is known for his aggressive tendencies — watch for safety blitzes.

THE OTHER QBs:

It is not really a quarterback competition, as Eli Manning is No. 1, Davis Webb is No. 2 and rookie Kyle Lauletta is No. 3 (30-year-old Alex Tanney is also on the roster). The “Can he play?’’ question about Webb has been there since he was drafted last year. He is a year older and one year into his NFL career. Let’s see what Webb brings to the field as he gets to show his stuff in a game setting.
