Glider sliders are par for the course

- John Crudele

Golfers hankering for a frank on the fairway, a wrap in the rough or a taco salad in the tee box can now get their food delivered directly to their on-course location via drone.

At least one course, a North Dakota property, has inked a deal with Israeli tech company Flytrex to deliver oncourse food for just a $3 service charge.

The King’s Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks claims to be the first US course offering drone delivery of food right to your spot.

Well, my golf game is terrible, and my putting is the worst, so the last thing I need is the whirling of a drone air force to break my concentration. Now I’ll never make the PGA Tour.

If Flytrex and EASE, a second drone company in the meal-delivery business, roll this service out across the country, it’ll certainly help reduce the normal wait for accommodation in the clubhouse.

Maybe it’ll even speed up play. And that will be welcomed by all golfers.

Flytrex says a technician will always be watching the drones and that the UFOs — the Unusual Food Orders — will stay out of the players’ way.

I guess that means the drone won’t spend much time flying over fairways — as if that’s where I spend most of my golf rounds.

Does someone have to yell “fore” when a drone is coming to land? Fore sure.
