The advertising executive found in her Upper West Side apartment with her throat slashed was murdered by someone she might have known, law-enforcement sources said on Monday.

Susan Trott’s body was found early Sunday in her home on West End Avenue near West 95th Street during a wellness check after a worried business associate called cops.

Police have identified a person of interest, but do not have enough evidence to make an arrest, sources said.

That person lives in the West End Avenue building where Trott’s body was found, NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said at a press conference Monday.

Shea would not confirm whether Trott, 70, and the person know each other.

“We believe that all the pieces of that puzzle — if you will — are within that building,” said Shea, adding, “We are exploring what relationship if any were between the two.”

When officers got to Trott’s 14th-floor apartment at around 5 a.m. Sunday, they found a blood-soaked pillow and a trail of blood leading to her bedroom.

According to police, Trott, a copywriter and advertising executive who did work for Levi’s, the Museum of Modern Art and Panasonic, appeared to have been dead for more than 24 hours.

The cause of death, according to Shea, was “a cut to the neck.”
