OFFENSE

What a train wreck. The Jets managed 275 total yards and went 2-for-13 on third down. Rookie QB

Sam Darnold (21-of-39, 229 yards, 4 INT, 31.8 rating) had his worst game as a pro. The running game failed to get going again as the offensive line struggled mightily. Darnold desperately needed someone to make a play, but the Jets continued to make mistakes. Center

Spencer Long had F multiple bad snaps that threw off Darnold’s timing. DEFENSE

This was a wasted performance by the Jets D. The Dolphins managed just 168 yards and their offense scored six points. The defense continually pressured Dolphins QB Brock Osweiler (15-of-24, 139 yards, 78.3 rating), sacking him four times.

Jordan Jenkins had two of the four sacks. The only knock on the defense was it failed to register Aa takeaway for the third straight week. SPECIAL TEAMS

Kicker Jason Myers went 2-for-3 on field goals, including a 56-yarder. Punter

Lachlan Edwards was the busiest guy on the Jets, punting six times. The return game was a non-factor, but the coverage team played well against a good punt returner. There was Banother special teams penalty. COACHING

You need to divide the job

Todd Bowles did Sunday into two categories. As a defensive play-caller, he was brilliant. That is why this grade is not an F. He baffled the Dolphins. As a head coach, he failed. This game was there for the taking and the Jets could not grab it. Offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates had a terrible game, unable to solve any D of the issues with this offense.
