‘SNL’ DAVIDSON CRY FOR HELP
‘Suicidal’ Instagram alarm
“Saturday Night Live” comedian Pete Davidson posposted a dark messagesage on Instagram SaturdayS that set off a stampede of fanfans fearing he was about to commit suicsuicide.
“I really don’t wantwan to be on this earth anymore,” he posted at about 1:30 p.m. “I’m doing my best to stay here for you but I actactually don’t know how much longer i can last. all i’ve ever tried to do was hhelp people. just remember I told you so.” He ended it with a heart emoji.
The post came in response to a Twitter beef betwebetween Kanye West and Davidson’s ex, ArianaA Grande, in which West accused the pop star of minimizing his mental-menthealth issues.
On Thursday nightnigh Ariana interruptedrupted West’sWest’s Twitter feud with Drake to say she and Miley Cyrus were releasingleasing a song. Kanye responded Saturdayurday morning by saysaying Grande was using him — and “weighed on my mental health” — to ppromote a song.
This is when DavDavidson, 25, who struggles with borderborderline personality disorder and who splitsp very publicly with Grande in OctoberOcto after a fivemonthmonth romance, jumpjumped into the fray.
“Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out [for] mental health,” he wrote. “I can’t explain to you enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this.”
And though he didn’t call out his ex by name, he made it clear that West should not be chastised.
“No one should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health,” Davidson posted. “I’m seriously disgusted.”
Minutes later, the Staten Islandborn “SNL” comedian posted his seemingly suicidal Instagram message. The NYPD told The Post it conducted a welfare check and “made contact” with Davidson.
The Post confirmed he was at work in Manhattan on Saturday, ahead of the “SNL” broadcast.
But Davidson’s only contribution to the live broadcast would be his threesecond introduction of musical guests Cyrus and Mark Ronson. NBC would not comment. Rapper Machine Gun Kelly took to Twitter, letting fans know that he was on his way to see the young comedian. “im in the plane now on the way to see Pete,” he tweeted. “gonna make sure he’s good, i promise. can’t have my boy in the darkness like that.”
Jon Cryer, an actor and director, tweeted at 1:55 p.m. that he was frantically trying to reach his friend. About 30 minutes later, he posted that he had heard Davidson was “accounted for” at the 30 Rock set of “SNL.”
Grande later posted: “I’m downstairs and I’m not going anywhere if you need anyone or anything. I know u have everyone u need and that’s not me, but I’m here too.” She has since deleted the tweet.
Davidson’s manager could not be reached.
Davidson has blocked Grande on his social media. And after his own dark post, he completely deleted his Instagram account.
