Boo hoo. A Pomeranian named Boo (above, right), a social-media sensation known to his rabid fans as the “cutest dog in the world,” has died, likely of a broken heart, his owners have announced. He was 12. Boo’s owner, Facebook employee Irene Ahn, said the adorable pup, who had 16 million Facebook followers, started developing medical problems after his best pal, a Pomeranian named Buddy (above, left) who had lived with him for 11 years, died in 2017 at the age of 14.

“With deepest sadness I wanted to share that Boo passed away in his sleep early this morning,’’ she posted Friday. “Our family is heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort.”

She added, “We know that Buddy was the first to greet him on the other side of that rainbow bridge, and this is likely the most excited either of them have been in a long time.’’

Boo also became a print and TV celebrity. He’s the subject of several books, including “Boo: The Life of the World’s Cutest Dog,’’ and “Boo: Little Dog in the Big City.’’

He appeared on TV shows, including “Good Morning America’’ and “Anderson Cooper 360.’’

Ahn said: “Over the years Boo met some super cool people, a lot of crazy talented people, but most of all so many kind people . . . friends who gave him endless love, people who prioritized his comfort over getting that perfect picture, partners who understood that Buddy ALWAYS had to be included.”
