It’s been a long 11 years since Tiger Woods had last won a major. Here’s a look at the highs — and mostly lows — since:
June 16, 2008: Beats Rocco Mediate in an 18-hole playoff to win the U.S. Open and 14th major championship
June 18, 2008: Announces he will miss rest of the season because of knee surgery
Oct. 1, 2009: Forbes names him first athlete to earn $1 billion
Nov. 25, 2009: National Inquirer publishes a story claiming Woods, then married to model Elin Nordegren, had an affair with night club manager Rachel Uchitel
Nov. 27, 2009: After discovering a loveproclaiming text from her husband to Uchitel, Nordegren chases Woods out of their Florida home with a golf club early in the morning on the day after Thanksgiving. Woods crashes his SUV into a fire hydrant and a neighbor’s tree
Dec. 2, 2009: Releases a statement admitting transgressions and apologizing to his supporters
Dec. 11, 2009: List of known mistresses — which includes porn star Joslyn James, former waitress Mindy Lawton
and model Jamie Jungers — hits 14 and costs Woods endorsements from Nike, Gatorade, Accenture and others. April 13, 2013: A day after committing an illegal drop in the second round of the Masters, Woods is assessed a twoshot penalty and goes on to finish fourth Aug. 4, 2013: Wins the Bridgestone Invitational April 1, 2014: Announces he will have another back surgery and ends year ranked 32nd
June 6, 2015: Shoots career-worst round (13-over 85 at the Memorial)
Sept. 16, 2015: Has has another back surgery and misses all four major for the first time in his career Dec. 1, 2016: Returns from a 15-month absence at the Hero World Challenge April 20, 2017: Announces he’s had fourth major back surgery May 29, 2017: Woods arrested at 3 a.m. in Florida and charged with DUI. Found asleep in his car, which is sitting still in traffic with the motor running.
