Apollo party to end

-

REVLON billionaire Ron Perelman is ending his annual Apollo in the Hamptons bash at his estate after a decade, Page Six has learned, and the final event will be curated by uber-producer Mark Ronson. Perelman has hosted the starry event at his Hamptons compound, the Creeks, every August since 2009 to raise funds for the famed Harlem theater. Tables have sold for as much as $250,000, with funds going to the historic Apollo and its educational programs for kids. The evening — where musicians perform in Perelman’s intimate barn — has drawn big names, from Jack Nicholson to Colin Powell to Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez. However, a spokesman for Perelman tells us: “We wanted to end things on a high note and think that after 10 years and nearly $30 million raised, it was time to change things up.” The rep added, “Ronald loves and will always support the Apollo.” The final Apollo in the Hamptons event will be held Saturday. We hear that under Ronson the show will feature appearances by the Dave Matthews Band, Black Eyed Peas, Pharrell Williams, Jamie Foxx, Patti LaBelle, Jon Bon Jovi and the Roots. A source told us that Perelman told pals that the big event had simply become too much to organize. Asked about future plans, the spokesman said: “We haven’t made any plans, but the Apollo is thinking through new options and plans for the future and we are, of course, working with them.” Past performers have also included Christina Aguilera, Smokey Robinson, Sting and Shaggy.
