TRAINING DAY

- —GregJoyce

DEEP THOUGHTS

Eli Manning has had most of his success with shorter and intermediate passes early in training camp, but he had the perfect touch on a deeper pass of about 25 yards Monday. Cody

Latimer hauled in the overthe-shoulder grab near the sideline, drawing “Oohs” from the crowd.

SLIPSHOD

On his last pass of the day, during a seven-on-seven red-zone drill, Kyle Lauletta had a play for the blooper reel. He started to pass, but tried to stop himself, to no avail. Instead, the ball slipped out of his hands went straight to the ground. Behind him, Janoris Jenkins scooped it up and ran like he was scoring a touchdown.

CAUGHT MY EYE

WR Sterling Shepard (broken thumb) continues to wear a yellow jersey during most drills at practice, though its effectiveness remains questionable. He keeps catching passes in team drills, but on Monday he was taken to the ground by DeAndre Baker. So much for non-contact.

KEEPING UP WITH THE JONES

Daniel Jones was 11-for-17 passing, another solid practice even if it did not include any jaw-dropping plays. His passes continued to show zip. At one point he slipped on the grass while throwing, but bounced up just fine.

MEDICAL REPORT

OT Brian Mihalik left practice early after going down with what Shurmur called a “burner.” CB Grant

Haley (shoulder) returned to practice and participated in team drills with a yellow jersey. WRs Darius Slayton (hamstring) and Brittan

Golden (groin) returned to individual drills. CB Sam Beal (hamstring), OT Chad

Wheeler and DL Avery Moss remained out.
