Olsen files for divorce again

-

MARY-KATE Olsen officially filed for divorce from French banker Olivier Sarkozy as New York courts reopened Monday to new cases following coronavirus closures. The 33year-old “Full House” star attempted to split from Sarkozy — the half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy — earlier this month, but was shot down because courts hadn’t been accepting new nonemergency cases during the pandemic, reports The Post’s Priscilla DeGregory.

Courts on Monday began accepting new cases electronically. Olsen’s contested divorce filing in Manhattan Supreme Court was among more than a hundred cases filed by early Monday. She sought an emergency divorce this month, claiming in court papers that Sarkozy, 50, her husband of five years, ended the lease on their $29,000-per-month Gramercy Park pad, leaving her to look for a new place amid the health crisis.

She claimed in the court docs, “My husband expects me to move out of our home on [May 18] in the middle of New York City being on pause due to COVID-19.” But a judge ruled it wasn’t an essential matter. (A source familiar with the couple told Page Six that the lease on the apartment was ending anyway.)

Olsen’s lawyer declined to comment. Sarkozy’s lawyer did not immediately return our request for comment.

Page Six exclusively revealed that amid the divorce, Olsen’s rented a Hamptons home for the summer for $325,000 — complete with a private dock and a private tennis court.

Sources said that she initially intended to keep her divorce documents secret: The papers, filed May 14, were meant to be sealed, but because New York courts were closed, they instead went into an e-filing system that did not automatically seal them. In her emergency petition, Olsen was seeking use of the couple’s Hamptons home, as well as their Gramercy apartment and an East 49th Street property.
