MLB: Harper hurt, Phills fall

Teoscar Hernandez hit a tworun homer, Jonathan Davis had a two-run double and the Blue Jays ended a six-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Phillies on Sunday in Philadelphia. The Phillies lost right fielder Bryce Harper to lower back stiffness after he struck out in the seventh inning.

In Pittsburgh, Yadier Molina’s two-run homer in the seventh inning gave the Cardinals a 2-1 win over the Pirates.

St. Louis won the final four games of the five-game series and maintained a one-game lead over Milwaukee and Cincinnati in the chase for second place in the NL Central.

In Cincinnati, Aristides Aquino hit a two-run homer and also had an RBI during Cincinnati’s five-run fourth inning, as the Reds took advantage of 11 walks by White Sox pitchers to win 7-3.

In Baltimore, Renato Nunez banged out an early two-run single while starter John Means struck out 12 in just 5 2/3 innings as the Orioles defeated the visiting Rays 2-1. The Rays struck out 16 times. ETC.: Novak, Halep reach final

Top seeds Novak Djokovic and Simona Halep both advanced to the finals of the Italian Open as fans returned to the stands at the tournament for the first time.

Djokovic beat Norway’s Casper Ruud 7-5, 6-3 and will play Argentine Diego Schwartzman with a chance to win his fifth Rome title.

Halep reached a third final where she faces defending champion Karolina Pliskova for a trophy the Romanian narrowly missed out on in 2017 and 2018.

In Vau, Portugal, South Africa’s Garrick Higgo captured his maiden European Tour title at the Portugal Open with a one-shot victory over Spaniard Pep Angles after a spotless final round of seven-under-par 65.

The 21-year-old Higgo shot five birdies on the front nine and added further gains on the 11th and 18th holes at Royal Obidos to go 19-under for the tournament.
