IN POD WE TRUST

- — Hailey Eber

There’s a growing number of podcasts for those trying to conceive, and they’re a great way to find connection. Here are four to try.

Matt & Doree’s Eggcellent Adventure (Apple)

Matt Mira, a comedy writer and veteran podcast host, and his wife, journalist Doree Shafrir, have one of the most popular pods on the topic. Always candid and often comedic, the couple discuss their journey with refreshing honesty and delightful detours on topics ranging from Nintendo’s “Animal Crossing” to gallbladder infections. When they started in 2016, the couple was trying to conceive their first child and mulling in vitro fertilization (IVF). Now, they’re raising a small child and trying for a second.

Maculate Conception (Audible)

This 12-episode exclusive follows Abbe and Isaac Feder, a lively Los Angeles couple working in the entertainment industry who took a long, twisting road in the journey to try to become parents.

Infertile AF (Apple)

Each week, Brooklyn journalist Ali Prato talks to a different person who’s trying to have a baby, or deciding not to. Whether she’s interviewing a man named Wes confronting his extremely low sperm count or chatting with reality TV personalities undergoing IVF, Prato, who underwent IVF herself, finds refreshing, affirming new perspectives.

The Gayest Show on Birth (Apple, Spotify, Stitcher)

Lesbian couple Kate and Karyne Levy share their road to parenthood via IVF using donor sperm, Karyne’s eggs and Kate’s uterus, while making diversions to chat about the always amusing reality show villain Spencer Pratt. The podcast started in 2017, and more recent episodes portray the couple negotiating sleepless nights and second-parent adoption paperwork as they care for baby Ari.
