Get popcorn, it’s movie time

- Cindy Adams

SOME department stores reporting — if not actual sales — at least questions about items. Maybe us stuck home/pajamaclad humans are starting to wake up . . . or at least take fewer naps.

Also making a comeback are Roosevelts and Fords. In a Showtime anthology drama series called “The First Lady.” Aaron Eckhart plays Gerald Ford. Michelle Pfeiffer is Betty Ford. Dakota Fanning plays their daughter. Eleanor Roosevelt’s embodied by Gillian Anderson (who just won a Globe for playing Margaret Thatcher) and Viola Davis is Michelle Obama.

But excluded is G. Washington’s Martha, who was called “Lady Presidentress.” Also omitted is Jackie O. And OK, so Mrs. Lincoln was no knockout, but not even honorable mention? What about Dolley Madison the swinger? Unfortunately, they planned this before Melania and fortunately before unelected Mrs. Biden began answering questions for her mate Charlie McCarthy.

More. Edie Falco’s playing Hillary in another new series, “Impeachment: American Crime Story.” Sarah Paulson plays Linda Tripp, Beanie Feldstein is — oy! — Monica Lewinsky, Clive Owen’s Bill Clinton, Annaleigh Ashford’s Paula Jones, and it’s Betty Gilpin for Ann Coulter.

But, hark! Break out the cream soda. Upon us is a new real movie, like what we once got in theaters. “The People We Hate at the Wedding.” Allison Janney, Ben Platt and “Schitt’s Creek” star Annie Murphy play a cranky family who, gathered for a ceremony, fight over every ratty thing each ever did. Like us pandemicniks stuck home for a year and maybe adoring our nearest/dearest/closest a little less.
