A Japanese app called Crabhouse was booted from the Apple Store, apparently because the name was too similar to the more well-known Clubhouse app.

Crabhouse converts users into crab avatars and allows them to communicat­e with one another.

RUSSIA

A 9-year-old boy’s concept drawing of a dog mermaid will become the latest plush product from IKEA.

The aquatic canine was selected as part of a contest from more than 66,000 entries.

“I love to draw and often think up different stories. So I came up with the idea of such an unusual dog and decided to send it to the competitio­n,” said the St. Petersburg boy, identified as Savva.

Researcher­s have confirmed that trace amounts of a substance found in jars at a 2,000-year-old grave site are cosmetics.

The concoction, made of “ruminant fat” and monohydroc­alcite, is believed to have been used as a skin-whitening face cream.

“It’s the oldest cosmetic for males ever discovered in China and the oldest face cream so far. It is more than 1,000 years older than previous written records,” said Sun Zhanwei, a researcher of the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeolog­y.

PAKISTAN

Two students at the University of Lahore have been expelled for hugging.

Video uploaded to social media showed a young woman hugging a man after presenting him with flowers. A note from the university registrar called the affection a “serious infraction” of the school’s “code of conduct.”

SOUTH AFRICA

The Zulu king of South Africa, Goodwill Zwelithini, died Friday after 50 years on the throne.

“His Majesty will be remembered as a much-loved, visionary monarch who made an important contributi­on to cultural identity, national unity and economic developmen­t,” said South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The government is now being inundated by fans of the late king for a state funeral, something that could potentiall­y run up against the nation’s pandemic-related restrictio­ns on large gatherings.
