Mom slain, hub OK
A mother of two was getting a massage with her husband when a gunman stormed into the Atlanta-area spa and fatally shot her, beginning a massacre the left eight people dead.
Delaina Ashley Yaun, 33, was killed in the shooting spree Tuesday night at Young’s Asian Massage Parlor in Acworth, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said.
“During a simple couples massage with her husband after work, Delaina Yaun lost her life after the parlor was shot up,” a GoFundMe page said.
“Her husband made it safely out but she leaves behind two beautiful children Mia and Mayson.”
A woman who identified herself as Yaun’s cousin on the page said Yaun recently got married and that Mia is 9 months old. Mason’s age was not immediately known.
Yaun’s loved ones remembered her as “such a great role model.”
“You were an amazing Mother, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, Granddaughter, Cousin, & best friend that anyone could have asked for,” Cristy Lynn McGouirk wrote.
“Your heart of gold, kindness and pure love will never be forgotten.
Another friend said she was “truly one of a kind” and a “very determined person.”
“I was proud to have you as a friend and a person who I could truly count on,” John Beck wrote.
The sheriff’s office said the gunfire also killed 54-year-old Paul Andre Michels, 49-yearold Xiaojie Yan and 44-year-old Daoyou Feng.
Elcias R. Hernandez-Ortiz, 30, was identified as the sole survivor of the shooting in Acworth.
He was seriously injured but in stable condition Wednesday, WSB-TV reported.
Authorities have not released the names of the four women who were later killed at two spas across the street from each other in the Atlanta suburb of Buckhead.
Police arrested Robert Aaron Long, 21, who allegedly confessed to the shooting spree and said that he has visited the businesses before.
Police said that he didn’t give them any reason to believe the crimes were racially motivated despite six of the victims being Asian women, but they are not ruling out the possibility.
