Sliwa stops fracas

- Tamar Lapin

Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa stepped in to stop a deranged man who randomly went off on strangers — including one woman who appeared to whip out a knife — in The Bronx on Wednesday.

Video showed the Guardian Angels founder trying to calm the man, who was screaming at passers-by, including a woman and her young daughter, around 12:30 p.m. at Fordham Road and Webster Avenue.

“Relax, relax,” Sliwa told the man, who continued ranting, “You lie” and “You never fed me,” as he pointed his finger and tried to approach people. He then set his sights on the mom, accusing her of “trying to interfere.”

The Gracie Mansion hopeful kept his cool as he stood between the unhinged man and the woman and child.

“Stay away from me!” the woman said off-camera.

The woman appeared to pull out a blade, prompting Sliwa to repeatedly say, “Put that knife away.”
