Wary $$ eye on Verizon

Five Democratic senators on Wednesday urged the Federal Communications Commission to ensure Verizon’s proposed $6.9 billion acquisition of prepaid-cellphone provider TracFone does not hike prices or impact programs that provide low-income Americans access to mobile phones.

TracFone provides services under a subsidy program to 1.7 million low-income subscribers.
