Eovaldi over the evolving Taillon

- stitches@nypost.com

The Indians are no more. Starting next year, Cleveland will be called the Guardians. The Cleveland Baseball Team, Clubbers, Clowns, Clouds and the Clampdown were considered. Stitches’ recommendation, the El Chapos, was not. But the broad smiling Chief Wahoo may be replaced by the broader smiling Guardian, Curtis Sliwa as an alternate logo.

The Red Sox are comfortably ahead of the Yankees, but the Rays, after picking up slugger Nelson Cruz from the Twins, will be tough to hold off. Good matchup at Fenway. Jameson Taillon (5-4, ERA 4.60) has evolved into the reliable starter the Yanks hoped for. Taillon beat Boston in The Bronx on July 18, shutting out the Sox for 5 ¹/3 innings, scattering four hits. Nathan Eovaldi (9-5, ERA 3.57) two-hit the Bombers over five strong the night before. 20 units on the Bosox.
