NHL: Makar signs $54M deal

The Avalanche kicked off Saturday’s second day of the NHL draft by signing top defenseman Cale Makar to a $54 million, six-year contract.

The Panthers acquired forward Sam Reinhart from the Sabres in exchange for goaltender Devon Levi and a first-round pick in the 2022 draft.
