No wiggle room
IT’S so hard to find housing in Montauk, it appears that hot spot Sel Rrose turned its upstairs office space into a place to crash. The restaurant has been hit with numerous code violations this summer dealing with overcrowding, but was also busted for having converted a second-floor office into sleeping quarters, reports the East Hampton Press. According to the paper, the restaurant was issued violations for overcrowding and turning the spot into a nightclub with dancing, and summonses for safety issues. East Hampton Town Attorney John Jilnicki has initiated legal proceedings. Assistant Town Attorney David McMaster was unable to provide us with details, but confirmed, “[Sel Rrose] is currently charged with a series of town code violations from multiple dates. All matters are pending in the East Hampton Town Justice Court.” Owner Kristin Vincent tells us, “We had a very hard time during COVID. It’s a miracle that we even made it through. We’re now just getting back on our feet and we are fortunate enough to have a lot of support from our loyal following.” The spot’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., is working to resolve the issues.
