Lastly, it just is illogical to believe that the NYT would allow me, or anyone else, to “just make things up.” Do reporters make mistakes? Of course. Do we get things wrong? Of course. But we don’t just make things up.

We say: New York Times 1619 Project leader Nikole Hannah-Jones still argues with those who point out she rewrote history in claiming colonists fought the American Revolution chiefly to preserve slavery. Her latest lie is simply laughable: Times reporters “don’t just make things up”? From Walter Duranty’s 1930s USSR dispatches denying Ukraine’s famine to Jayson Blair, whose 2000s made-up interviews led to the resignations of two top Times editors, the paper is famous for its fabrications.
