Mickey’s charity mantel
AFTER downtown prince Mickey Boardman’s one-day sale of royal memorabilia to benefit Housing Works in Soho last month was such a regal hit, the Paper magazine veteran is reviving his annual designer clothing charity sale. Boardman will be selling off a trove of threads, accessories and beauty products “at incredible savings” at the Standard hotel’s the Garden in the East Village on Saturday and Sunday. He told Page Six that standout items will include iconic bags from Fendi, Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Balenciaga, Rafe Totengco, Proenza Schouler, DKNY and Kate Spade; apparel from the Tommy Hilfiger x Indya Moore collection, La Ligne and Sacai; Jonathan Adler candles; and Manolo Blahnik shoes. Mr. Mickey’s Charity Sale, as he’s christened it, will be open to the public in the Garden’s updated terrace space. All proceeds will go to Citta, a New York nonprofit working in India and Nepal, as it continues its COVID-19 relief efforts in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Boardman previously hosted Mr. Mickey’s Celebrity Sidewalk Sale of “fashion fabulousness” to benefit Citta.
Page Six reported that the fashion insider reckons he has the most important collection of royal family-related items in NYC and previously told us of selling off his memorabilia: “I have a one-bedroom apartment. I don’t want to be that old woman, where her entire ranch house is filled with [Prince] Charles and Diana slippers . . . I love the idea of turning shopping into philanthropy and to find a good home for my things.”
