How was he even on the road? A driver busted for allegedly killing a Brooklyn baby and critically injuring her mom in a wrong-way hitand-run was behind the wheel of a car that had wracked up 160 violations and been caught on camera speeding past schools 91 times.

A reckless driver whose car has racked up 160 traffic violations was busted in the wrong-way hit-andrun crash that left a 3-month-old Brooklyn girl dead and her mother critically injured over the weekend, police said on Sunday.

Tyrik Mott, 28 — whose vehicle has been caught speeding 91 times near city schools and repeatedly failing to stop at traffic signals — was spotted by cops blowing past a red light minutes before the fatal Saturday crash in Clinton Hill, an NYPD spokesman said.

The officers had been headed in the opposite direction from Mott, and did a U-turn to try to catch him.

Mott then crashed into another car, sending both vehicles onto the sidewalk, striking the baby and her 33-year-old mother, who was pushing her in a stroller, cops said.

Mott was nabbed after fleeing on foot and trying to steal another driver’s car, according to authorities.

He was allegedly driving a 2017 dark silver Honda Civic in the wrong direction on Gates Avenue when he collided with a 2020 black Honda Civic operated by a 49-yearold woman at Vanderbilt Avenue, cops said.

The 2017 Honda, which has Pennsylvania plates and is registered to Mott, has been previously captured by speed cameras zooming past New York City schools at least 10 mph above the speed limit 91 times since fall 2017, city records show.

The vehicle was caught on camera speeding in school zones 35 times in 2021 alone, including on seven occasions since the summer began, according to records.

The car was also caught running red lights 14 times since 2017, including on five occasions in recent months, data show.

The slew of other violations against the vehicle involved everything from blocking a crosswalk to parking too close to a fire hydrant to parking at expired meters.

In February 2020, the Big Apple passed a law allowing city agencies to seize vehicles with five red-light camera or 15 speed-camera violations within a 12-month period, unless the operator completes a driver safety course. It’s unclear how or why Mott was allowed on the road.

He also was arrested in the city in 2018 for reckless driving. And this past February, he was busted for allegedly driving with a suspended license as he operated a Nissan Murano with New Jersey plates. He also allegedly had no registration.

Saturday’s crash sent the baby flying 15 to 20 feet, a witness said afterward.

“Oh, my God, it’s horrifying,” a local resident told The Post on Sunday.

“This makes me sick.

The man called the parents, who are French, “super nice.”

“They were on vacation overseas the whole month of August. Europe,” the resident said.

Mott allegedly ran off after the crash and tried to steal a 41-year-old driver’s 2020 Hyundai, cops said.

He was arrested a short time later and charged with attempted robbery, attempted grand larceny, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration, according to authorities.

The mortally injured baby was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital but could not be saved. Her mom was taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and listed in critical condition.

A 36-year-old male pedestrian was also struck, and was taken to Brooklyn Hospital in stable condition.

The 49-year-old driver of the other Honda was taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in stable condition.

Mott was held in lieu of $100,000 cash bail at his Sunday-night arraignment, where prosecutors revealed he asked cops to go easy on him and just give him a ticket.

He was arraigned on the top charge of attempted robbery, but more charges against him are expected to be filed Monday, according to Assistant District Attorney Tzyonah Langsam.
