The City’s Tragic Failure To Curb Reckless Driving

THE ISSUE: A hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn that killed a 3-month-old baby and critically injured her mother.

-

A reckless driver killed a 3-month-old girl in a Brooklyn hit-and-run on Sunday and left the mother critically injured (“Speed demon,” Sept. 13).

The car he was driving had 160 traffic violations and had been caught on camera speeding 91 times in front of schools and failing to stop at traffic signals.

Why was this guy still behind the wheel? I am truly appalled and troubled by the many drivers out there who just don’t care when they are behind the wheel.

I’m a senior citizen and often worry about crossing the street. New York state must get it right, or more people will be killed. Frederick Bedell

It’s great the cops finally arrested Tyrik Mott on a number of charges.

But what about the multitudes of cars with “temporary” plates (many fake from New Jersey and Texas) that show expiration dates from months ago, darkened windows so you have no idea who is in the car, reckless driving on local streets, drag racing on highways, etc?

Over the last year, a bad situation has gotten much worse. Why is the city not cracking down on this? Could it be another casualty of wokeism?

Reading The Post frontpage headline about this road menace, whose car had 160 violations to its credit, leads me to believe this: Either our officials are corrupt or they should never have been elected because they’re worse than stupid.

It’s time for us to surrender our city if this man is not kept in jail for the rest of his life. Bunny Abraham Manhattan

A three-time-arrested driver allegedly heading the wrong way on oneway street T-boned another car and veered to the sidewalk, where an innocent mother was walking with her baby.

He didn’t have a valid license during his last arrest, and he was released to commit more crimes and harm the public. This is why crime has escalated in New York City.
