Indies send Biden’s ratings plummeting
50% disapprove 42% approve
President Biden’s job-approval ratings continue to sink, with the lat- est poll showing 50 percent of Americans turning thumbs down — with independents’ disapproval of his performance putting him in negative territory among that key bloc.
Biden, dealing with intense criticism over his bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan and a surge in COVID cases, has seen his approval rating fall to 42 percent, a drop of 4 points since early August, according to the Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday.
It also marks the first time Biden’s ratings have fallen into negative territory in the Quinn- ipiac poll since he took office in January.
Broken down by political party, Democrats approve of the job Biden is doing 88-7 percent, Republicans disapprove 91-7 and independents disapprove 52-34.
Other surveys began showing Biden’s approval rating falling below 50 percent at the beginning of August.
Americans are split, though, on his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, with 48 percent approving and 49 percent disapproving.
The poll also found that 54 percent agree with Biden’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan, but 65 percent disagree with how he handled the pullout.
