Outdoor diner shot on UES

A man dining in the outdoor seating area of an upscale East Side Chinese restaurant Wednesday night was shot in the leg as he tried to fight off two armed robbers, police and witnesses reported.

The victim was shot at Philippe Chow on East 60th Street near Madison Avenue when two men tried to rob him at about 10 p.m., police said.

The victim was expected to survive, sources said. No arrests had been made by early Thursday.
